Progress on strategy of surgical treatment for intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma

Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma is the second commonest primary malignant tumor in liver. It carries a poor prognosis because of the highly invasive and metastatic characters. Radical resection may be the only cured way for intrahepa〖JP3〗tic cholangiocarcinoma. In the past few years, the surgical strategy〖JP〗 has changed a lot due to the understanding of the biological behavior and advance of surgical techniques. These changes mainly focused on the surgical indication, liver resection and lymphadenectomy. In addition, the treatment strategy to the reccurent intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma has also been evolved.
