Abstract
Cystic echinococcosis (CE) and alveolar echinococcosis (AE) are two main types of hepatic echinococcosis. At present, there are many surgical therapeutic methods for human hepatic echinococcosis, and the differences of skills and nonstandard procedures in the diagnosis and treatment still exist in different areas. The expert consensus on the diagnosis and treatment of hepatic cystic and alveolar echinococcosis (2015 edition) was presented by experts of Chinese College of Surgeons (CCS) Chinese Committee for Hadytidology (CCH) in order to promote the cure rate of patients and set the standards of the diagnosis and treatment for hepatic echinococcosis. In this article, surgeons should focus on the following aspects of CE and AE, including biological characteristics, classification, diagnosis procedure, preoperative evaluation, treatment principle, surgical procedure, standardized pharmacotherapy and systematic followup.
