Practical exploration on specialized disease database construction and research capacity buil-ding in clinical professional master′s students

Cultivating the scientific research ability of clinical professional master′s students is a key and challenging aspect of medical education. The First Hospital of Jilin University has explored an innovative educational model that uses the construction of specialized disease databases as a vehicle to enhance the research capabilities of clinical professional master′s students. By guiding students to participate fully in the construction, management, data mining, and clinical research of specialized disease databases (such as those for hepatocellular carcinoma and cholangiocarcinoma), scientific research training is organically integrated into the entire process of clinical practice. This establishes a mutually reinforcing cycle of "clinical data‑research training‑ability enhancement". Practice has shown that this model effectively stimulates students′ research interest and initiative, significantly improves their research output and thesis quality, markedly increases the proportion of students pursuing further studies at high‑level institutions, and greatly enhances the efficiency of data collection for graduation theses. It provides an effective practical solution for research capacity building of clinical professional master′s students.
