Abstract: In recent years, there has been a very good opportunity for the development of colorectal surgery in China. It has developed rapidly, both in clinical practice and clinical research. For example, normalized diagnosis and treatment is becoming commonplace, standardized laparoscopic colorectal surgery has been promoted, and the surgical technique has been developing rapidly. However, there are many challenges in the field of colorectal surgery, especially in clinical research, which needs to be strengthened in an all-round way. Therefore, improving the level of standardization of the diagnosis and treatment, and carrying out the clinical research, will remain the primary task of colorectal surgery in China for a long time.
