Abstract: Low anterior resection syndrome (LARS) is a set of bowel dysfunction symptoms occurring in patients after anterior resection for rectal cancer. As the incidence of rectal cancer rises, the prevalence of LARS is also increasing. To standardize the diagnosis and treatment of LARS, the Laparoscopic Surgery Committee of the Endoscopist Branch in the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, Robotic and Laparoscopic Surgery Committee of Chinese Research Hospital Association, and Editorial Board of Chinese Journal of Digestive Surgery have organized domestic experts in relevant fields to formulate the "Expert Consensus on Diagnosis and Treatment of Bowel Dysfunction after Low Anterior Resection (2025 Edition)"based on a systematic review of its definition, epidemiology, pathogenesis, risk factors, prevention, diagnosis, and management. This consensus aims to enhance the precision of its clinical management and ultimately improve the quality of life of LARS patients by standardizing the diagnosis and treatment of LARS.
