Abstract: Since entering the 21st century, colorectal surgery in China has developed rapidly, with new technologies emerging and ideas innovating constantly. While conforming to the world trend, our colorectal surgery colleagues in China have actively carried out and popularized new technologies, conducted relevant high quality researches, and formulated corresponding surgical treatment guidelines and expert consensus for colorectal cancer based on the received evidence-based medical evidences. Nowdays, the treatment of colorectal cancer in China has entered the era of individualized precision minimally invasive medicine. The author makes a systematic review of colorectal surgery development in China in the past two decades, and furthermore prospects the future of colorectal surgery in China.
